Wednesday, August 11, 2021 Results – 6pm start time

1. Alissa Bolz (UMGG, Jungle Boy) vs. Olivia Blechschmidt (Florida) in a 125 lbs. bout in ring 2, bout 4.
2. Zaro Snyder (UMGG, MNPLS Boxing Club) vs. Keith Colon (New York Metro) in a 125 lbs. bout in ring 3, bout 5. This is a semifinals match.
3. Luna Snow (UMGG, Saint Cloud Golden Gloves) vs. Brooklyn Allison (Texas) in a 141 lbs bout in ring 3, bout 7.

Tuesday, August 10, 2021 Results– 6pm start

1. Zaro Snyder (UMGG, Minneapolis Boxing Club) defeated Pedro Lopez (Kansas / Oklahoma) by decision in a second round 125 lbs. bout. Snyder boxed behind a very active and long jab while also having a higher work rate and out landing his game opponent. The scoring computers went down after round one causing a long delay which forced the judges to score by hand. The judges scored it right, giving the decision to Minnesota’s Snyder.
2. Kevin Ramos (UMGG, COD) lost a three round decision to Vershawn Lee (Chicago) in a 138 lbs. Ramos appeared to be shorter and lighter than Lee and tried working his way inside behind a high guard. Lee, a southpaw kept a good distance and was constantly on the move while counter punching. Ramos pressured forward through two rounds but slowed near the end of the second round. The judges saw it in favor of Lee at the conclusion of three rounds.
3. Robert Copeland (UMGG, Ludy’s) lost by RSC rd 2 to Islier Fernandez (Indiana) in a 178 lbs. bout
   The taller Copeland had trouble keeping Fernandez off of him early and a flurry of punches had the referee issuing a standing 8 in round one. Copeland looked more comfortable to begin the second round, using his jab, angles and movement. After a tough first round, Copeland appeared to win round two. Another flurry along the ropes by Fernandez to start round three and Copeland was given another standing 8 and the referee decided to waive the fight off.
4. Dillon Bercier (UMGG, Three Nation Boxing Club, ND) defeated Omar Jones (Tri-state) by decision in a 201 lbs. bout.Bercier stormed Jones throughout round one with non stop pressure. He landed big and also took some big shots. Round two was another heavyweight firefight with nearly nothing but bombs being traded. Very close fight through two rounds with Bercier, the shorter of the two, throwing more punches in all. The huge amount of punches had both men tired and Bercier was caught by a few shots that prompted the referee to issue a standing 8 just as the final bell sounded. Minnesotaboxing.com did not agree with that decision to give a standing 8 as Bercier looked more winded than hurt. Still, the judges gave the decision to Bercier who moves onto the next round.

Monday, August 9, 2021 Results – 6 pm start

1. Zaro Snyder (UMGG, Minneapolis Boxing Club) defeats Dan Bodish (Pennsylvania) in 125 lbs. opening round bout. – 6:30 PM CST
2. Daveon Olive (UMGG, Saint Cloud Golden Gloves) lost by decision to Jean Gabriel (Florida) in a 165 lbs. – 8:15 PM CST
3. Isaiah Abalan (UMGG, COD) lost by decision to Carlos Hernandez (Kansas/Oklahoma) in a 152 lbs. bout.
   

Original story: Competition begins tonight for some of the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves team at Nationals located at the Cox Business Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tournament runs through this Saturday.

All of the bouts will be streamed live on the Golden Gloves of America’s website. Prices to watch are $10 for a day pass or $50 for the entire week of action but as of Monday night, the stream was live and playing for free. The most recent UMGG champions were Robert Brant at 178 lbs. in 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas and Raphael Butler at Super Heavyweight in 2004 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Boxing Monday, August 9th:
Zaro Snyder (UMGG, Minneapolis Boxing Club) will face Dan Bodish (Pennsylvania) in a 125 lb. bout taking place in ring 2, bout 2.
Daveon Olive (UMGG, Saint Cloud Golden Gloves) will face Jean Gabriel (Florida) in a 165 lbs. bout taking place in ring 2, bout 9.
Isaiah Abalan (UMGG, COD) will face Carlos Hernandez (Kansas/Oklahoma) in a 152 lb. bout taking place in ring 3, bout 8.

Boxing Tuesday, August 10th:
Dillon Bercier (UMGG, ) will face Omar Jones (Tri) in a 201 lb. bout.
Kevin Ramos (UMGG, COD) will face the winner of Vershawn Lee/Zachariah Lewis.
Robert Copeland (UMGG, Ludy’s) will face the winner of Cesar Alvarado/Islier Fernandez

Female boxers Alissa Bolz (UMGG, Jungle Boy) at 125 lbs. and Luna Snow (UMGG, Saint Cloud Golden Gloves in the 141 lbs. division will both box on Wednesday with brackets to come.

Coaches making the trip include Ludy Webster, Donnie Penlton, Adonis Frazier, Jeremy Jacobsz, and Charlie Schumacher (I apologize for missing anybody).
