MN AMATEUR BOXING SHOWS PUSHING TOWARDS RETURN
USA Boxing MN announced that Minnesota Boxing LBC #30 will be hosting their first “test” sanction amateur boxing event since the Covid pandemic shut boxing down. The show will take place on Sunday, April 25th 2021 at the Meshakwad Community Center in Hinckley, MN. Due to Covid restrictions, tickets will not be sold for this event. Boxers and coaches that are listed on the bout sheet will be able to participate.
MinnesotaBoxing.com plans to share live coverage from the venue.
Amateur boxing shows and events without restrictions and large crowds in Minnesota appear to be getting closer to becoming a reality. This show could be the first step to a large scale return. Schools around the state have re-opened fully to students and boxing gyms are now allowed to welcome boxers back. Live amateur boxing (and professional) seem to be a logical upcoming step with summer just around the corner.
Region 1 Upper Midwest Golden Gloves director Lisa Bauch informed Minnesotaboxing.com that Region 1 and Region 2 will be combining their Upper Midwest Golden Glove Regional Tournaments this year. The tournaments are scheduled for June 18th and 19th of 2021 at Element Gym in Saint Paul. The Upper Midwest Golden Gloves Championship Tournament will be held July 18th-20th of 2021. These dates are tentatively scheduled and are dependent on where state Covid guidelines stand as the months go on.
