WBA Super Middleweight Champion David Morrell Jr To Defend His World Title on June 4th PBC card on SHOWTIME at The Armory

Morrell Steps Through the Ropes at The Armory for the Fourth Time; in Tough Test Against Kalvin Henderson
WBA Super Middleweight Champion David Morrell Jr. returns to familiar territory on Saturday, June 4, as he headlines a nationally televised boxing card at the historic Minneapolis Armory, the rising star’s home base.
Tickets are on sale now for the Premier Boxing Champions card on SHOWTIME, which also features a second world title bout pitting WBO and WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Stephen Fulton (20-0, 8 KOs) of Philadelphia against former unified world champion Daniel Roman (29-3-1) of Los Angeles.
Morrell (6-0, 5 KOs) has emerged as a big fan favorite at The Armory, where he launched his pro boxing career after a stellar run in the amateur ranks. The hard-hitting 168-pounder is three-for-three at The Armory, with all of the wins coming by knockout.
On June 4, the native of Cuba hopes to make it four in a row in his adopted hometown. Standing in his way is tough veteran Kalvin “Hot Sauce” Henderson. Fighting out of Arkansas, Henderson improved to 15-1-1 last fall with a TKO win over Robert Burwell.
Since he arrived stateside in 2019, Morrell has shown off the prodigious talents that made him a standout in Cuba’s iconic amateur scene. Before being elevated, the 24-year-old captured an interim title by dominating then-unbeaten Lennox Allen in August 2020. Most recently, in December, Morrell electrified a packed Armory crowd with a fourth-round stoppage of highly regarded contender Alantez Fox.
The Minneapolis Armory is at 500 South 6th St. in Minneapolis. Its box office hours are Tues- to-Fri 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. More information is at http://armorymn.com/.
