WEIGH IN PHOTO REPORT FROM HINCKLEY, MN

Eight bouts were scheduled heading into tonight’s weigh-ins at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Mn and that is how many matches will take place tomorrow night. Boxers competing at “Grand Friday Night Fights” presented by The Grand Casino Hinckley, The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and put together by Rapacz Boxing hit the scales mostly without a hitch. (You can read our preview from September 21st HERE.) All tickets to the event are now digital from etix.com and will need to be bought online. There will be no availability to buy them from the box office at the event.

For the night’s main event, Caleb Hernandez (6-0) of Indiana weighed in at 167.8 and Ryan Adams came in at 167.6. The co-feature which is guaranteed to be special is a Midwest heavyweight match between between Tim Taggart Jr. (5-4-2) of Hinckley, MN and James Dancing Bull Jackson (4-0-1) of Minot, ND. Taggart weighed in at 231.8 pounds while Dancing Bull was heavier at 257.2.

The anticipated rematch between Danny Huffman (4-1-1) of Duluth, MN and Nick Compton (2-4) of Minneapolis, MN is a go but not without trouble on weigh-in day. Compton informed his opponents team this morning that he would not be able to get much below 165 pounds. With the bout scheduled for 154 pounds, Huffman was on weight but put on a few pounds by weigh-in time. Huffman officially came in at 158.6 while Compton weighed 164 at the scales. Huffman told Minnesotaboxing.com that he accepted the big jump in weight because he wants to avenge the earlier loss to Compton by any means necessary.

“I think it was a way for Nick to get out the fight by refusing to fight under 165 on the morning of weigh-in’s said Huffman. We’ve come prepared to take care of business regardless.”

Compton confirmed stating that his body shut down during weight cutting. “I’m glad he (Huffman) was still willing to take the fight. I still plan on putting on a good show.”

Colton Warner (2-0) of Apple Valley, MN weighed in at 254.4 pounds and ready following a long summer in training camp with World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Blaine Perrigo (1-1) of Missouri was heavier at 270 pounds on the dot.

Rayshaun Thomas (3-0) of California weighed 132.4 while his opponent Don Stewart (2-5) of St. Louis, MO was a few pounds lighter at 130.4.

Exciting Duluth, MN featherweight/lightweight Jesse “Primo” Walters (5-0) came in exactly a pound under the contracted weight of 130 while Tyrone Jones of South Bend, Indiana weighed 129.6.

Recent Minnesota transplant from Iowa Antonio Woods now of Minneapolis weighed in just under the contracted weight of 158, coming in at 157.4 while Brandon Baue (16-24) of Troy, MO weighed 157.6.

Rice Lake, Wisconsin’s Vinny Downwind weighed 269.6 while Cayman Audi (debut) of Hinckley, Mn came in at 230.8. Downwind was originally set to face Colin Sangster of Canada before an injury forced Sangster off the show last week.
